This segment, we honor Robin Wall Kimmerer. A mother, scientist, professor, and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. You may have heard her name because her book, Braiding Sweetgrass, was a paradigm-shifting, surprise word-of-mouth sensation, selling half a million copies worldwide. In it, she shows how the world of science can not only co-exist with the ancient knowledge of indigenous people, but that it is actually enriched by it. Indigenous knowledge is a science in its own right, and it’s time we recognize its importance.
