Ayurveda

What is ayurveda? Maybe you’ve heard about it mid-downward dog. Or maybe it’s popped up at the local health food store. It’s an ancient practice, but it’s been quoted a lot lately. Ayurveda is a 3,000-year-old Indian system of medicine. And it’s deeply connected to yoga. Ayur means life, and veda means knowledge. So, one way of looking at it is that ayurveda simply means knowledge of life. Ayurvedic practice believes in balance. Its goal is to maintain overall health for a person, in both the physical and nonphysical parts of ourselves. Part of this equilibrium is also creating and maintaining balance within our environment.
