Tao means Way

Tao means Way

We mentioned that, in Taoism, the word Tao means way. But we want to explore this concept a little more. The way means both the way the world is at this moment, and it also means the world’s process of change. Laozi wrote that if you are at peace, you are living in the present moment. Another common metaphor in the Tao Te Ching is water. Water naturally fits into any space it’s in. And so, be like water, says the Tao Te Ching. Even though what is the present moment will change, move with it, flexibly, without fighting. This is some of Taoism’s central wisdom: in flexibility, there is great strength. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
